About

IMG_4726-001I recently relocated to Johannesburg after working as a reporter for the Go! & Express Community Newspaper in East London for just over two years. My work there involved pitching story ideas, writing stories falling into a wide range of beat areas (including education, health, sport, public life), taking photographs to accompany my stories, editing stories, running the school’s page and working in a team to produce the best possible community paper serving the East London and King William’s Town community.

In 2014, I completed my Bachelor of Journalism degree at Rhodes University, graduating with distinction and academic colours. During my third year, I majored in Psychology and Photojournalism and in my honours year, I specialised in Writing and Editing. This site serves as a portfolio of some of my published writing and photojournalism work over the past few years.

The bulk of the contents of this portfolio features writing I have done for  Go! & Express, a community newspaper serving the East London and King William’s Town communities, Grocott’s Mail, an independent community newspaper situated in Grahamstown, and Cue, the National Arts Festival newspaper. I have also worked for Daily Dispatch in East London during various vacations over the years of my studies.

I am a multi-skilled, enthusiastic, hard working person. I especially enjoy writing human-interest stories and investigations relating to education, although I am skilled in a variety of writing genres. I am eager to learn new things and always have an eye out for a good story.
